An Expat Guide to Life in Abuja

Expat Guide to Life in Abuja
Aso Rock, Abuja

Welcome to Abuja

A note from the editor:

I created this site when I was living in Abuja. Sadly, it hasn’t been updated since I left, which was in Jan 2023. Therefore, the information you’ll find here may be outdated. Some restaurants may have closed and better ones may have opened up. Nevertheless, I think this site can still give you a reasonable introduction to Abuja.

If you are interested to take over this website or contribute from Abuja, do get in touch via Instagram here. I don’t want anything for it but would be happy if someone had the motivation to make it continue. I know that some people have found it very useful and so it would be great to keep that going.

Enjoy!

Here is the original homepage text:

This is an expat guide to life in Abuja, Nigeria. On the pages listed on the left, you can find information on hotels, restaurants, money, taxis, and much more.

When I moved to Abuja I found it hard to find accurate, up to date information about life in the city. I created this website to help others to get to know this great city more easily. Whether you’re moving to Abuja forever or just staying for a few days, I hope you will find this useful.

Where to start?

If you are visiting for the first time, you may like to start with the more general pages on Abuja General Info, or Expat Life in Abuja. They provide useful information on life here in Abuja. For example, you can find out how to start a bank account, how to get a sim card, and how to connect with other expats on Facebook.

If you’re looking for restaurants in Abuja, please check out our section on Eating in Abuja. This page includes the soon-to-be famous Welcome2Abuja’s definitive list of the Best Restaurants in Abuja!. It also includes information about all the food delivery options that are available in Abuja. For the real foodies, our food scene page provides some Abuja-based instagram stars to follow. They specialise in finding the very best culinary secrets that Abuja has to offer.

If you have any comments of ideas on how to improve this website, or if you would like to contribute, please get in touch via welcome2abuja@gmail.com. To stay updated, please follow us on Instagram and FaceBook.

Finally, I have started a Welcome2Abuja newsletter to provide a monthly update on any relevant news, events, restaurants, or other developments relevant to expats in Abuja. Sign up here if you would like to receive it:
